Fans react to 86-year-old Jane Fonda walking the Paris runway – ‘her essence is gone’

Jane Fonda is one of the most recognizable names in the world. The actress has had a lengthy career and is still performing now, at the age of 86. She recently walked down the runway in Paris, and people had a lot to say about it.
Paris Fashion Week is currently taking place, and the world’s most prominent fashion figures have assembled in the historic city. L’Oreal Paris, as always, is a major participant in the celebrations. The “L’Oréal Paris Le Défilé — Walk Your Worth” event took place on September 23, 2024, and featured various well-known figures.

Many famous people walked down the runway, including Jane Fonda.

The 86-year-old veteran actress arrived on the runway dressed entirely in silver. She wore a silver trench coat to match her silver sneakers and hair. To add a pop of color to her appearance, the actress chose bright red lipstick and nailpolish.

The runway was designed, according to L’Oreal, “to celebrate women’s empowerment, inclusion, and sisterhood.” In the run-up to the event, the brand shared footage of its ambassadors on social media. One video included two icons: Jane Fonda and Andie MacDowell. Both women are well-known for looking great with their natural gray hair.

In the days preceding up to the event, L’Oréal Paris posted films of its ambassadors on TikTok. One video included Jane Fonda and Andie MacDowell, who also wears her natural gray hair.

When Jane mounted the stage at age 86, everyone were astounded by her beauty and grace. One guy said, “Good bone structure and good genes!” Another fan commented, “Young at heart… that’s the only way you can be like her 86…kudos” while one user simply stated, “Gorgeous.”

However, it appears that not everyone liked her appearance. One user said her beauty was due to plastic surgery, “makeup and face work,” and another concurred, adding, “Not Jane Fonda.. her essence is gone..” Another disappointed netizen said, “No, she didn’t “Wow” anyone. Also, she looks like she’s 86.”

Earlier this year, Fonda discussed her eating condition on the L’Oréal Paris Lights On Women podcast. Her accident “lasted a long time and it was very hard to heal.”

She stated that when she was younger, she wanted to do “anything not to be fat.”

She explained what she was persuaded to believe at the time: “‘If I’m not perfect, nobody is going to love me’ is the message that I received.”

She spoke about her decades-long advocacy and how she managed it with her acting career. “[People] did not like women with a voice that they used,” she told me. She also mentioned that they preferred “women to be objects of desire, to look at.”
