He’s Only 16 — One Jackson 5 Note Sent the Judges Into a Frenzy

When 16-year-old Christian Guardino stepped onto the America’s Got Talent stage, he seemed like any other teenager — hands tucked into his pockets, a nervous grin, quiet but hopeful. There was nothing showy about him, just a soft-spoken kid from Long Island who said he loved to sing. What most of the audience didn’t realize was that Christian had once been legally blind due to a rare eye condition, and had only regained much of his sight after undergoing experimental gene therapy a few years earlier.

Then the music began.

Christian launched into “Who’s Lovin’ You” by The Jackson 5, and the atmosphere shifted instantly. His voice was massive — soulful, emotional, and steeped in classic Motown feeling. It sounded like it belonged to a seasoned soul singer, not a 16-year-old standing casually under the lights. He bent notes with ease, stretched phrases effortlessly, and hit soaring runs with total control, leaving the judges visibly stunned.

What started as polite interest quickly turned into outright chaos. The crowd began cheering mid-song, screaming as he powered through the biggest moments. When the final note hit, the theatre exploded into a standing ovation. Without hesitation, Howie Mandel slammed the Golden Buzzer, sending Christian straight to the live shows as gold confetti poured down and he stood there overwhelmed, tears filling his eyes.

It was one of those rare auditions where raw talent, personal story, and pure emotion collided perfectly. Christian walked onstage looking like an ordinary 16-year-old — and walked off as a Golden Buzzer star, proving to the world just how extraordinary he truly was.
